Malcolm Porter

Founder & CEO
Malcolm Porter began his work in human services in 2002 as a Direct Support Professional, learning firsthand what it means to walk beside people as they build independence and confidence. Those early years taught him that good support is not about programs or systems—it’s about relationships, consistency, and truly caring about the person in front of you.

In 2017, Malcolm founded Independent Employment Services with a simple goal: help people find meaningful work and the pride that comes with earning their own paycheck. As he worked with individuals and families, he saw that employment was only one piece of the puzzle. Many people needed support at home and safe, dependable transportation to fully participate in their communities.

That understanding led IES to expand into Homemaker/Personal Care services in 2019 and Non-Medical Transportation in 2021. By 2025, the organization had grown beyond employment alone, and the name was changed to Independent Equality Solutions LLC to better reflect the full mission—supporting people in every part of daily life.

Malcolm’s passion has always been rooted in respect and opportunity. He believes everyone deserves the chance to work, contribute, and live with dignity. His leadership is guided by the values he learned as a DSP—listen first, show up consistently, and treat people the way you would want your own family treated.

Today, Malcolm partners with Ohio DODD and Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) to provide job coaching, job development, and career assessments, along with in-home supports and transportation that help people move forward in real, practical ways. He remains hands-on in the organization, focused on building a team that leads with compassion and accountability.

Outside of this work, Malcolm has a strong interest in photography, a creative outlet that reflects his belief that every person has a story worth noticing.

Malcolm wants every family who connects with IES to feel one thing above all:
they have found a place where people are genuinely cared for and given a real chance to grow.
